Mobile Will Change Everything – Again

Our love affair with our cell phones will grow even stronger over the coming years.

A recent study from PEW University says over 44 percent of us have slept with our cell phones. Honestly, cell phones are changing the way we live, work, shop, receive news and other information. The majority of Americans under age eighteen don’t know what a landline is, and have never lived in a home that had one.

It’s all part of a trend created by the introduction of the first smartphones. We are shifting to a culture of internet on the go. Users want to be able to access the internet wherever they go–on the beach, at work, in planes, cars, and automobiles.

Cellular companies are responding by dishing up larger data packages at ever faster speeds. Within the next five years it is likely all carriers will offer unlimited high speed data. Municipalities will run fiber optic cable in most metropolitan areas, offering free WiFi hot spots in direct competition with cable companies and cellular providers, and home WiFi could easily become a thing of the past. The wired home is fast evolving into the wired planet.
