Elizabeth Cady Stanton was an influential American suffragist and social activist. Stanton was one of the leaders of the early women’s rights movement. Stanton’s presentation at the Seneca Falls Convention in 1848 is believed to have led to the first organized women’s suffrage movement in the United States. Stanton is also well known for writing The Woman’s Bible, a well-known book that challenged the traditional position of religion that woman should be subservient to men.
